Abstract :
Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is usually progressive but prevention of the progression can be done somehow
by many ways. Specific treatment should be attempted for autoimmune pancreatitis and obstructive chronic pancreatitis.
Recurrent attacks of pancreatitis should be minimized by alcohol abstinence (in alcoholic CP), antioxidants
(in idiopathic CP) or surgery. The progression of CP can be attenuated by ceasing alcohol, quit smoking and
performing surgery when indicated.
